Tim Baroody Fredericksburg City Manager Tim will provide an update on his first year as ...
The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Affairs Committee represents the interests of the area business community before local, state and the federal government. Committee members meet regularly with these elected officials at all levels of government to advocate for business-friendly public policies and to discuss topics the concerns of the business community.
Each year the committee prepares a Legislative Priority package that outlines the Chamber’s positions on issues – ranging from transportation to taxation to health care – which comes before the Virginia General Assembly.
The committee presents the packet to the Fredericksburg Region’s lawmakers at the annual Legislative Meeting and Reception, which takes place in December shortly before the start of the next year’s legislative session. This annual gathering of political and business leaders includes a Q&A session with our state representatives.
Chamber staff and committee members have put together other such forums, including meetings with former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli and Congressman Eric Cantor.
