Military Affairs Council

  • About

  • The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Council promotes and supports the business interests of our Region as it pertains to the defense industry and the military.

The defense industry plays a vital role in our community health, both economically and socially. The government and defense industries make up approximately one-fifth of our regional labor-force, and this number will continue to grow with the additional jobs and people coming to the Region as a result of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) decisions. The defense industry has a major impact on our business community in bringing new service industries and high-tech businesses to our Region. Four of the top ten industries in the Fredericksburg Region that received Department of the Defense contract awards are classified as high technology industries and provide a higher than average wage for their employees.

The council serves as the liaison between the defense and civilian communities. In recognizing the role that the defense industry and the military play in our local economy, the Military Affairs Council is proactively working to support the local defense activities.
