Leadership Fredericksburg is seeking Action Action Learning Project proposals from area nonprofit a

To be considered, a nonprofit must be located within Planning District 16 (Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George and Caroline counties and the city of Fredericksburg). Nonprofit service areas that cover more than one jurisdiction are preferred but not required.

Projects provide a hands-on learning opportunity for Leadership Fredericksburg participants, who will work in teams. Among other things, it gives them a chance to use their skills and experience to apply concepts learned in the class sessions.

Proposals should be designed to meet a nonprofit’s needs and can include items such as: volunteer management plans, marketing plans, feasibility studies, business plans and public awareness.

For the 2016 class, Leadership Fredericksburg will select four projects to be done from October to May 2016. Projects must be of a scale and scope to be completed within that time.  The deadline for submissions is Aug 26.

Leadership Fredericksburg 2016 Class to present projects, graduate

Leadership Fredericksburg will graduate its ninth class this month.

Prior to graduation, the 25 fellows who comprise the 2016 Class will present the final results of the projects for area non-profit organizations on which they have worked since last fall. Participating non-profits: Dr. Yum Project, The Conversation Project, Ralph Bunche Community Center, Gwyneth’s Gift Foundation.

The project presentations will take place at 3 p.m., May 12 at J.F. Fick Conference Center

“We are very proud of the work our Leadership Fellows have done in the last nine months,” said Susan Spears, Chamber President and CEO, who also serves as Executive Director for the program. “They have demonstrated great dedication to helping area non-profit organizations achieve their mission of making the Fredericksburg Region a better place to live.”

On May 20, the 2016 Class will graduate in a ceremony at University of Mary Washington’s University Hall, located in the North Building of the Stafford campus, beginning at 3 p.m.

Dr. Michael McDermott, President and CEO, Mary Washington Healthcare, will be the keynote speaker.

A reception will follow the graduation exercise. There is no charge to attend.

Leadership Alumni President Brian Morgan will also provide remarks at the ceremony, as will the newly-elected 2016 Class President, Kyle Allwine, Assistant Director of Graduate Admission at the University of Mary Washington.

The Chamber is now accepting applications for Leadership Fredericksburg’s 2017 Class.

“Leadership Fredericksburg provides motivated individuals with a unique opportunity to broaden their horizons – both professionally and personally,” said Spears. “Our previous graduates are making a difference in our community while enjoying a tremendous new networking resource with the Alumni Association. Truly the fastest growing network of leaders in the Fredericksburg Region, we continue to look for others who are ready to lead using guiding principles of integrity, service, and dedication.”

Leadership Fredericksburg Graduates 2014 Class

The Chamber’s Leadership Fredericksburg program graduated its seventh class of “Fellows” during a May 16 ceremony at University of Mary Washington’s Stafford Campus.
The 28 Fellows in the 2014 Class began their Leadership Fredericksburg journey in September with a personality profile assessment and an individual Executive Coaching session. Each month, community, business, nonprofit, political, and educational leaders offered them insights about their personal leadership journeys. In addition, each Fellow was paired with a trained mentor from the business community who supported their progress throughout the program.
The participants also divided into four teams, each of which partnered with an area non-profit on a service project. Each team presented “deliverables” – concrete results – to its partner. Participating non-profits were The Fairy Godmother Project, Rappahannock Area Agency on Aging, Rappahannock Legal Services, and Step Forward.
Leadership Fredericksburg is now accepting applications for its 2015 class. A selection committee will screen the applications in July and announce the new class in August.
An application can be obtained here or by calling the Chamber office at (540) 373-9400. The cost is $1,900 for businesses, $1,550 for nonprofits and $2,600 for non-Chamber members. There is a $25 application fee. Applications must be received at the Chamber office by 5 p.m., Monday, July 1.
