The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce is committed to helping the community meet the transportation challenges of the 21st Century. The ability to quickly and efficiently move goods and people is crucial to maintaining a healthy economy. The Chamber has stood up a Transportation Comittee to advocate for transportation projects that will reduce congestion and allow people to move easily and safely through the region. The Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is a federally mandated, federally funded transportation agency that is responsible for the coordination of transportation planning activites within the MPO boundary that includes the City of Fredericksburg, and the counties of Spotsylvania and Stafford.

George Washington Regional Commission
Planning District Commission established in 1961 by the General Assembly for the region comprising the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford, known collectively as Planning District 16. Sister organization to FAMPO, the commission deals with a variety of issues including rural transportation planning programs and operates the GWRideConnect, the region’s nationally-recognized rideshare brokerage that facilitates and promotes vanpooling and transit use,
