FREDERICKSBURG – September 15, 2023 The Community Foundation invites local nonprofits to apply for its NEW Nonprofit Strategic Planning Cohort starting this winter. Applications are open September 25th through November 3rd. The Community Foundation has partnered with the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, The Spark Mill and Germanna Community College to offer 30 hours of strategic planning for a select cohort of nonprofit small groups. Strategic planning is a crucial process for healthy nonprofits. This 4-month cohort program will guide participants through a strategic thinking and planning process. At the end, participants will have a strategic plan that will include goals and objectives identified and prioritized for a 2 to 3-year period. The strategic planning cohort includes the collection of both key stakeholder and community data while minimizing the cost barrier, and, most importantly, creates a cohort of nonprofits who have a shared experience in strategic planning. Nonprofits will learn how to gather data, identify themes, craft goals and strategies, and develop tactics to achieve their strategies and goals. The Spark Mill will also work with organizations to develop an implementation plan to provide measurable guidance to the organization for moving forward that drives
decisions at board meetings, and that staff refer to while making prioritization decisions. This new opportunity is responsive to the desires of local nonprofits and builds on The Community
Foundation’s objective to strengthen the capacity of the nonprofits serving our region through training and professional development.
Nonprofits interested in applying for this opportunity should visit The Community Foundation’s website
