(Fredericksburg, VA) January 13, 2025 – Fredericksburg Regional Transit (FXBGO!) is pleased to announce the addition of two new Gillig buses to its fleet, purchased with grant funding to expand capacity and improve service reliability. The buses are expected to go into service in the Spring and will be deployed across various existing and future routes.
“As part of our route realignments, one of our top priorities was and will continue to be to increase the effectiveness of these vehicles across our transportation network,” remarked Matt Rooney, FXBGO!’s Maintenance Manager.
The new vehicles will help reduce crowding, improve on-time performance, and provide additional flexibility for future service improvements. With 33 seating positions, the new buses will increase availability capacity while maintaining comfortable, accessible service for riders.
“Grant funding made this investment possible, and we’re excited to put these buses on routes for our community,” added Melody Fowler, Acting Director of Public Transit. “They will play a key role in delivering the service enhancements our riders have asked for.”
