Fredericksburg, VA – GWRideConnect, the George Washington Regional Commission’s (GWRC) award-winning Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program, announced a substantial increase in inquiries about ride-sharing options in recent days. Commuters from Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford are turning to ride-sharing as a way to make commutes easier, and GWRideConnect is ready to help them find their ideal solution with vanpooling, carpooling, buses, or VRE.
Leigh Anderson, Director of GWRideConnect, believes that much of the surge is in response to recent changes in teleworking policies for federal workers. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2023 American Community Survey, there are an estimated 55,695 federal workers in Virginia’s Congressional District 7, which includes the George Washington Region, Planning District 16.
Anderson reacted to this surge in inquiries, commenting, “We’re thrilled to see such strong interest in vanpooling and other transportation options. Our team is dedicated to helping commuters navigate vanpooling, bus routes, train schedules, and carpools to find the best fit for their needs.”
GWRideConnect has specialized in connecting commuters with reliable, cost-effective options for traveling to work for over 50 years. Ridesharing provides numerous benefits, including cutting commuting expenses, reducing stress, and helping the environment by decreasing emissions and traffic congestion.
