Charlottesville, VA – The Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) is excited to announce the launch of its 11th annual Solarize Virginia program, designed to make solar power more accessible and affordable for homeowners across the state. The program, which has already helped over 1,533 Virginia homeowners transition to solar energy, offers a streamlined and cost-effective process to go solar while providing significant financial incentives.

The Solarize Virginia program is a key initiative by LEAP to help homeowners lower their energy costs, reduce their carbon footprint, and contribute to a cleaner environment. By working with trusted, vetted solar installers, Solarize Virginia offers competitive pricing and discounts, making solar power more affordable than ever.

“We know that switching to solar can feel overwhelming due to complicated quotes, high upfront costs, or uncertainty about which installer to trust,” says Deborah Arenstein, Solar Program Manager of LEAP. “Our goal is to simplify the process, provide expert guidance, and make it as easy as possible for Virginians to transition to solar power.” Since its inception in 2014, Solarize Virginia has been committed to supporting homeowners by offering free solar satellite assessments and education on the benefits of solar energy. The program has been widely successful, helping Virginians save money and reduce their reliance on traditional energy sources. With the 2023 passing of the Inflation Reduction Act, the federal solar tax credit has increased from 26% to 30%, offering even more financial incentive for homeowners to make the switch to solar. As the nation navigates uncertainty, this may not always be the case.

“We’ve seen firsthand the positive impact that going solar has on households and the environment,” Katie VanLangen– Co-Executive Director of LEAP and long time leader of the Solarize Program states. “By switching now, Virginians can lock in significant savings and protect themselves from rising utility rates, all while contributing to climate goals– despite the changing landscape we currently are each experiencing.”

Homeowners and businesses interested in joining Solarize Virginia can sign up for a free solar satellite assessment and access discounted rates until July 15th. LEAP offers ongoing support throughout the process to ensure a seamless experience, from the initial consultation to installation.
