WOODBRIDGE, VA – On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at approximately 3:45 p.m. OmniRide coach number 3005 experienced a flat tire on northbound I-95 while traveling back to D.C. after dropping off passengers in Spotsylvania County. There were no passengers on board the vehicle. The coach operator safely pulled over to alert dispatch for further instruction. The tire had wrapped around the axle and began to smoke; before fire services could arrive, fire had expanded into the coach which is a total loss.
Our fleet is safe. We have reviewed the preventive maintenance records, including tire records, along with the most recent state vehicle inspection which occurred in January 2025. The vehicle was safe and in proper working order when it incurred the flat tire, which occasionally happens during service. Our contractor Keolis is already taking extended corrective action to ensure this situation does not occur again and they are conducting an ongoing investigation.
We are independently investigating the timeline of events and will cooperate fully with Virginia Highway Patrol and Prince William Fire & Rescue. OmniRide thanks the first responders who arrived as quickly as possible and worked so hard to minimize the impact.
