(Fredericksburg, VA) – The George Washington Regional Commission (GWRC) is partnering with the Regional Housing Assembly (RHA) to host the 1st Annual Regional Housing Summit on October 17, 2023, at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center. The Regional Housing Assembly (RHA) is an advisory group of volunteers in partnership with multisector stakeholders related to health and housing. The GWRC provides facilitation to include human services, transportation, land use, environment, and workforce planning into housing considerations. Composed of an overarching consortium of housing interests, the RHA enhances regional coordination, communication, and effectiveness toward overall housing conditions in Planning District 16.
The summit will be the first of its kind for the region bringing together key stakeholders in the housing industry to discuss the current state of housing and the future solutions for attainable housing throughout the region. The Housing Summit will provide an opportunity for government officials, community leaders, real estate professionals, housing advocates, and concerned citizens to come together and discuss innovative solutions to this issue. The event will be held at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center from 8am – 5pm on October 17, 2023. The welcome and opening will be led by Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger followed by keynote speaker Brian Koziol of the Virginia Housing Alliance. The summit will also include 9 breakout sessions, focusing on understanding the issues and the solutions that can be developed to address them. Sessions will be led by expert speakers from around the region, Commonwealth, and country. The summit will end with a brainstorming session focused on what the region can get started on now to address the housing crisis.
