FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park’s spring schedule will run from March 9, 2024 to June 7, 2024. Plan your visit and discover the stories of soldiers, civilians, and enslaved freedom seekers who experienced four major battles and helped determine the fate of the nation during the Civil War.
Self-guided audio driving tours for all four battlefields and audio walking tours are available for free at go.nps.gov/frsp-tours or via the official NPS App found on the Apple Store or Google Play.
Park grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Spring hours for visitor centers, historic sites, and guided programs are as follows:
Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center (1013 Lafayette Boulevard, Fredericksburg, VA)
Open daily, 9 am–5 pm
Plan your visit with a park ranger at the visitor center. Explore exhibits on Fredericksburg, the battle, and its aftermath. Shop in the park store and watch a 22-minute movie, shown every half hour.
Sunken Road Walking Tour: Join a guided tour of the one of the most iconic and recognized battlefield landmarks of the war. (Weekends; 10:30 am & 2 pm; 45 minutes)
Chancellorsville Battlefield Visitor Center (9001 Plank Road, Spotsylvania, VA)
Open daily, 9 am–5 pm
Explore exhibits on the battles of Chancellorsville, the Wilderness, and Spotsylvania Court House. Shop in the park store and watch a 22-minute video, shown every half hour.
Investigating Chancellorsville: Why did the US and the Confederate armies clash in May of 1863 and why does it matter? Join park staff to learn about the Chancellorsville Campaign and dive into some of the big questions surrounding this contested battle. (Weekends; 10:30 am & 2 pm; 30 minutes)
Chatham (120 Chatham Lane, Fredericksburg, VA)

9 am–5 pm (closed 12 noon – 1 pm)
Visit exhibits that tell the story of this slave plantation from the 1770s to the present day, including its role as headquarters and hospital during the Civil War. Stroll through the 1920s gardens and enjoy a spectacular view of the city skyline and river. A 14-minute orientation movie is available upon request. Park staff are present to share the history of the house and grounds.
The “Stonewall” Jackson Death Site and Ellwood are closed for the season and there will be no staff at the Spotsylvania Court House Battlefield. In the summer we will have expanded hours at these locations as well as expanded program offerings throughout the park. Park grounds at all locations remain open sunrise to sunset.
