The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce was pleased to award local businesses for their successes, entrepreneurial spirit, and community commitment at the 34th Annual Awards Gala held Friday, April 25th at the Fredericksburg Agricultural Fairground. With over 350 people in attendance including small and large businesses, nonprofits and representatives from state and local governments, the night was a massive success. Awards were given in the following categories:
Community Impact Award
This award honors individuals or organizations that have made a significant and lasting impact on the community. Recipients demonstrate leadership in addressing local needs, enhancing the quality of life, and fostering positive change through innovative programs, partnerships, or services.
Entrepreneur of the Year
Awarded to a business owner or entrepreneur who has demonstrated exceptional vision, creativity, and determination in establishing and growing their business. This individual embodies the entrepreneurial spirit, overcoming challenges to build a thriving business that contributes to the local economy and community.
Large Business of the Year
Recognizing a company with 75 or more employees that has demonstrated outstanding growth, leadership, and a commitment to excellence in their industry. This award celebrates businesses that have significantly impacted the local economy through innovation, job creation, and community involvement.
Small Business of the Year
Awarded to a small business with fewer than 74 employees that exemplifies entrepreneurial spirit, customer service, and community engagement. The recipient demonstrates growth, innovation, and dedication to making a positive impact on both their industry and the surrounding community.
Prince B. Woodard Leadership Award
This prestigious award honors an individual whose leadership, vision, and community involvement have made a lasting and positive impact on the Fredericksburg region. Named after a previous University of Mary Washington President, this award recognizes individuals who go above and beyond in contributing to the betterment of the community and setting a high standard for leadership in service.
Community Impact Award –The Oberle Academy
Since the 1990s, Oberle Academy has offered a pioneering approach to non-traditional education, with a team of over 30 professional educators and specialists delivering personalized, experience-based learning. Their programs support students’ academic, emotional, and behavioral needs, helping them overcome traditional barriers to success.
Beyond the classroom, Oberle is deeply embedded in our community—partnering with school systems, local businesses, Germanna Community College, and government agencies to expand opportunities for students. Their comprehensive model, which includes counseling, technical training, and transition planning, leads to real results: improved test scores, higher graduation rates, and long-term success in both education and employment.

Community Impact Award – King George County Schools
Despite limited local funding—ranking 106th out of 132 counties—KGCS has achieved exceptional outcomes. All five schools are fully accredited, business partnerships have nearly tripled in the past year, and work-based learning opportunities have increased by 400%.
Under the leadership of Superintendent Dr. Jesse Boyd, KGCS has launched innovative programs such as the monthly CTEats stakeholder dinners and the groundbreaking KG Career Academy, aligning education with workforce needs. Their vision connects students directly to career pathways and real-world opportunities, positioning KGCS as a model for career and technical education.
Recognized for transforming outcomes across the board, KGCS has risen to “At or Above Standard” on Virginia’s College, Career, and Civic Readiness Index—a reflection of what focused leadership and strong community partnerships can accomplish.

Entrepreneur of the Year – Brian Lam
Brian Lam is the definition of entrepreneurial grit and innovation. What began as a solo wellness practice has grown into Collage Spa, a three-location brand that now employs over 70 people and offers an integrated approach to self-care and health.
Despite challenges—including the COVID-19 pandemic—Lam’s leadership kept the business not only alive but thriving. A Leadership Fredericksburg alumnus and devoted community supporter, Brian has supported numerous charitable causes and local artists, further solidifying his reputation as a community-minded entrepreneur. Additionally, Brian’s efforts in fostering a strong company culture and employee benefits have made Collage Spa a top employer in the area.

Small Businesses of the Year Award – Jubilation by Silver Company
Jubilation has set a new benchmark for senior living in our region, blending luxury, hospitality, and community engagement into an extraordinary living experience. Their commitment to creating a vibrant, active environment for their residents goes beyond just offering high-end accommodations; it’s about fostering a sense of belonging and connection. Through their personalized hospitality program, which empowers staff to offer exceptional service, they’ve cultivated a culture where every resident feels valued and cared for.
In addition to providing an exceptional living environment, Jubilation by Silver Companies is deeply involved in the local community, hosting events like monthly Veterans Breakfasts and supporting charitable causes such as the Salvation Army. Their dedication to the well-being of their residents, along with their active community involvement, makes them a true leader in senior living and a shining example of what it means to be a business that cares for both its members and the broader community.
Large Businesses of the Year Award – Universal Dynamics (UnaDyn)
Universal Dynamics (UnaDyn) has made a significant impact on our region since establishing operations in Fredericksburg in 2018. A leading U.S. manufacturer of automation systems for the plastics industry, UnaDyn stands out for its commitment to innovation, employee engagement, and community investment.
In just two years, they improved employee satisfaction from -14 to +32 and promoted over 20 team members internally. Their leadership in manufacturing is matched by their involvement in workforce development—hosting externships, supporting certification programs, and growing local talent through initiatives like the Regional Manufacturing Roundtable.
With values rooted in customer care, people development, and forward-thinking solutions, UnaDyn exemplifies the qualities of a true industry leader and community partner.
Prince B. Woodard Leadership Award – Kevin Dillard
Kevin Dillard’s legacy is one of courage, service, and innovation. Starting as an EMT in Fredericksburg, he co-founded LifeCare Medical Transports, now one of the largest EMS providers in Virginia. Kevin’s leadership has been tested and proven during national crises like 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, he continues to serve locally and internationally—most recently delivering ambulances to the front lines in Ukraine.
Whether chairing the Governor’s EMS Advisory Board or mentoring young leaders, Kevin’s impact stretches far and wide. His unwavering commitment to service is what makes him a true community icon. He has inspired countless others through his hands-on approach to leadership and his ability to rise to the occasion in times of need, whether in local emergency response efforts or global humanitarian missions. Kevin’s work continues to leave a lasting legacy, making him a beacon of hope and a model of leadership for all.
