The Fredericksburg Independent Book Festival (FiBF) is proof of the power of stories to connect, inspire, and build community. Since 2016, this annual free-to-attend event has brought hundreds of independent authors and thousands of readers together in the heart of downtown Fredericksburg.
Supporting Authors & Uplifting Stories
At its core, FiBF is dedicated to supporting local and independent voices in the literary world. Each year, the festival welcomes 60–80 authors representing a wide variety of genres. Attendees can enjoy panel discussions, workshops, and author talks, as well as book signings and opportunities to network with writers and publishers.
FiBF also partners with local libraries, writing groups, and schools to encourage literacy and creativity, while collaborating with downtown businesses through giveaways and promotions that drive foot traffic and community engagement.
A Growing Community Tradition
Since its launch, the festival has hosted over 500 authors and consistently welcomed 1,000–2,000 attendees annually. In 2024, FiBF’s reach extended even further, with a social media campaign that connected with more than 137,000 readers and earned 263,000+ views—all in support of independent storytellers and small literary businesses.

The FiBF team—two core organizers supported by a network of dedicated volunteers—runs on passion. Their motivation comes from seeing new connections spark between authors and readers, and from helping local talent find their audience. Their top priorities include:
