Fredericksburg, VA (March 24, 2026) – Mary Washington Hospital’s Nuclear Medicine department has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in nuclear medicine as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
Nuclear medicine is a specialized area of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material to help diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, including many cancers, heart disease, and other complex disorders. This accreditation affirms that Mary Washington Hospital meets and exceeds the rigorous national standards required to deliver safe, accurate, and high-quality nuclear medicine services.
“This accreditation is a powerful validation of our team’s expertise and dedication,” said Donna Morris, CRA, BS, R.T. (R) (MR), Director of Clinical Operations, Mary Washington Hospital. “Patients can feel confident knowing they are receiving nuclear medicine services that meet the highest national standards for safety, accuracy, and quality — right here in our community.”
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of achievement in medical imaging. It is awarded only after a comprehensive peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are leaders in the field. The review process assesses image quality, staff qualifications, equipment performance, quality control measures, and ongoing quality assurance programs.
