WASHINGTON, D.C.— Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, has appointed Susan Spears, IOM, President & CEO of the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, to Vice Chair of the Northeast Board of Regents and to the IOM Curriculum Committee. As a member of the committee, Spears will implement directives from the National Board of Trustees and will take an active role in advancing Institute’s curriculum objectives and policies.
“Institute’s curriculum committee members review the programs content, on an annual basis, to make sure it is relevant and up-to-date,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s vice president of Institute for Organization Management. “These individuals each bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the committee as nonprofit management professionals.”
Since its commencement in 1921, the Institute program has been educating tens of thousands of association, chamber, and other nonprofit leaders on how to build stronger organizations, better serve their members and become strong business advocates.
Institute’s 20-member Curriculum Committee serves on behalf of and represents the National Board of Trustees, providing insight and recommendations that are aligned with the CAE and CCE bodies of knowledge to maintain Institute’s curriculum at the forefront of what’s to come. Each member is nominated by their peers. Institute’s four Boards of Regents serve on behalf of the National Board of Trustees. Each Board of Regents is responsible for recruitment, retention, and marketing of the program nationwide. Each regent is an Institute graduate nominated by their peers.
Starting in 2020, Spears has held numerous leadership positions within the Institute program. Spears graduated from Northeast Institute at Villanova in 2019.
