More Than a Classroom. A Path to Skills and Careers.

We are excited to expand Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities at The Oberle Academy with the launch of our new Heavy Equipment Operator courses, made possible through our continued partnership with Germanna Community College.

As part of this partnership, Germanna has generously loaned us five heavy equipment simulators, giving our students the opportunity to explore and train for careers in the construction and heavy equipment industries right here on our campus. This year long course is taught by our Oberle staff, providing hands-on instruction in a safe and structured learning environment.

Students will train using simulators for a variety of equipment, including standard and advanced excavators, a D11 earthmover, a large wheeled tractor grader, a forklift, and a skid steer. After developing foundational operating skills at Oberle, students will have the opportunity to visit Germanna’s campus and demonstrate their skills on actual equipment. This innovative approach allows our students to build confidence and technical skills before transitioning to real equipment while introducing them to career pathways in construction, skilled trades, and heavy equipment operation.

The new courses build on a partnership that continues to grow. This year marks our third year partnering with Germanna Community College to expand CTE opportunities for Oberle students. Through this partnership, students also participate in Welding and Electrical courses, receiving hands on instruction and developing industry relevant skills that can prepare them for employment or continued education after graduation.

We are incredibly grateful to Germanna Community College for the use of these simulators and for their continued investment in our students. Partnerships like this help us connect learning to real world opportunities and give students additional pathways to discover their strengths, build meaningful skills, and prepare for their futures.

Know a Student Who Could Benefit?

We would love to share more about The Oberle Academy, our CTE programs, and the opportunities available to students in grades 6 through 12 and post graduate CTE. Know a student who could benefit from a different approach to learning and career preparation? Let’s connect.
