If you live a busy lifestyle and are looking to live healthier and feel more energetic, you’re in the right place. As a Master Trainer and Founder of Faithfully Fit & Frugal (F3), one of the most common challenges I hear from busy professionals, entrepreneurs, and parents is: “I know meal planning would help me, but I don’t have time.”
Ironically, that’s exactly why meal planning and batch cooking are worth learning.
The good news? Summer offers a unique opportunity to establish this habit before the demands of Fall arrive.
Why Summer Is the Best Time to Start
For many families, Summer often brings a slightly different rhythm. While schedules can still be busy, there is typically less pressure from daily school drop-offs, pickups, after-school activities, sports practices, and homework routines.
This creates the perfect environment to test and refine new wellness habits without feeling overwhelmed.
Think of summer as your “practice season.” Instead of waiting until life gets busier, you can use this time to develop simple systems that will carry you through the upcoming Fall and holiday seasons.
The Simple Habit That Saves Hours Every Week
When most people think about meal prep, they picture spending an entire Sunday cooking dozens of meals. That’s not what I recommend. Instead, I teach clients to focus on batch cooking foundational ingredients:
- Proteins
- Carbohydrates
- Vegetables
These become the building blocks for multiple meals throughout the week. For example:
- Grilled chicken can be used in salads, wraps, bowls, or tacos.
- Roasted vegetables can accompany lunch or dinner.
- Rice, potatoes, or quinoa can be mixed and matched with various proteins and flavors.
The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is to reduce the number of decisions you have to make after a long day.
The Hidden Benefit: More Than Just Time Savings
Most people start meal prepping to save time. But what they gain is much bigger. When dinner becomes easier:
- Stress decreases.
- Decision fatigue decreases.
- Healthy choices become more consistent.
- Family meals become more enjoyable.
- Evening wellness routines become more achievable.
Many of my clients report that the greatest benefit isn’t the food itself—it’s the peace of mind that comes from knowing what comes next.
Small Changes Create Big Results
You don’t need a complete lifestyle overhaul. You don’t need elaborate recipes. You don’t need hours in the kitchen.
You simply need a realistic system that works with your schedule. That’s why at Faithfully Fit & Frugal (F3), we focus on sustainable wellness strategies that help busy individuals and families build healthy habits without adding more stress to their lives.
Start Before the Rush Returns
As Summer continues, consider this your opportunity to create a habit that your future self will thank you for. The families who thrive during busy seasons aren’t necessarily more organized or disciplined. More often, they have systems in place that make healthy choices easier. And Summer is the ideal time to build those systems.
So, why don’t you give batch cooking a try now, before the Fall season starts, before your schedule changes accordingly?
Your future self just might thank you!
Always with encouragement and care,
Keep WORKING.
