Understanding the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act

As implementation of the federal healthcare law gets under way, the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce is committed to helping its members understand what the act means for their businesses and what they must do to comply with new federal mandates.

On Jan. 17, 2013, the Chamber held a forum on the law at the Fredericksburg Country Club. The Fredericksburg Regional Alliance, the City of Fredericksburg Department of Economic Development & Tourism, the Spotsylvania County Department of Economic Development, and the Stafford County Department of Economic Development sponsored the event.

More than 150 attended to hear Lindsey Waters, vice-president with First National Brokerage Corporation, begin explaining the implications for businesses in Fredericksburg and around the nation. The details of the Affordable Care Act are changing by the hour as new regulations are issued by federal agencies, including the IRS, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Health and Human Resources. This PowerPoint is accurate as of 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 17.

As new details on the law become available, the Chamber will update this page in order to keep you abreast of the latest developments on this vital topic.
