Who are we?
We are Fredericksburg Area Health and Support Services (FAHASS). We are a health focused nonprofit with a mission to positively impact individual and community health. We have been providing comprehensive health and support services to the LGBTQ and HIV communities since 1992. FAHASS started as a support group in the basement of a small house on Elm Street in Fredericksburg. Today, FAHASS operates 4 office locations, including our original house on Elm, providing a broad range of health related services and programming.
What do we do?
FAHASS continues to provide HIV education & outreach, medical case management, as well as social and support groups for the community. We take an expanded wraparound approach to health, understanding that social and environmental factors have an immense impact on a person’s overall wellbeing. We address factors such as housing, transportation, social isolation, addiction, nutrition, employment and much, much more!
In recent years, we’ve expanded our service offerings to include direct healthcare access through Mosaic Care Center as well as opening the region’s first and only LGBTQ community center, Pride Center FXBG.
Opened in 2020, Mosaic Care Center is the Fredericksburg region’s first and only “Pride Clinic.” Our practitioners and staff receive ongoing trainings to address the specific health needs of the LGBTQ community as well as staying updated in the realm of cultural competency. We provide high quality, inclusive and affirming outpatient medical care and mental health services for individuals 18+. This includes transgender healthcare services such as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). MCC is open and available to all community members as a Primary Care Facility. We accept most major insurances including Medicare and Medicaid. The biggest difference between MCC and other medical offices is the impact of your dollars. As a patient at MCC, you know that 100% of the money generated through your medical visits is put directly back into community programs and helps to sustain our important work in this region.
Opened in 2022, Pride Center FXBG is this region’s first and only LGBTQ Community Center. We host year-round social and health events such as Queer Connections: Coffee Socials & Monthly Brunch, Craft Night and Game Night. We also provide free meeting and activity space for other LGBTQ organizations. The Pride Center offers a safe and affirming space for the LGBTQ community to gather, host their own events, and engage with other like-minded community members. We work to foster deeper relationships with other inclusive local businesses and organizations that provide additional resources and safe spaces for LGBTQ individuals. We also offer an LGBTQ Awareness Training to organizations and businesses to improve understanding of and relations with the LGBTQ Community.

- Come to Mosaic Care Center for your healthcare and mental health needs. Remember that 100% of our profits are put right back into our local community.
- Participate in Pride Center FXBG activities! Your visibility helps other know that they aren’t alone and it’s okay to be who they are!
- Sign up to be a volunteer. We have many opportunities for you to get involved in the work we do!
- Tell people about us and the services we offer! We are here to serve our community, but we can’t help if people don’t know about us.
