STAFFORD, Va., July 27, 2023 – Cyber Bytes Foundation (CBF) was proud to join X Corp Solutions (XCorp) and STEAMBridge in hosting The Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (MCJROTC) Leadership, Cyber and Aviation STEM Camps. These camps are taking place July 17-July 28 at Fork Union Military Academy located in Fork Union, VA.
“Our partnership with MCJROTC has been invaluable, serving as a pillar of support and expertise. Drawing from my own 21-year experience with the USMC, I have witnessed firsthand the unwavering determination and adaptability that defines the Marine Corps’ ethos. These qualities translate into their efforts to fortify our cyber defense capabilities, making them an indispensable ally in our mission to promote cybersecurity Education, Innovation and Outreach,” said Cesar Nader, Founder of CBF and CEO of XCorp. “I am genuinely glad to be part of this partnership and to witness the remarkable impact it has on the future leaders of the USMC and the impact on the cybersecurity landscape. Together, we stand at the forefront of defending against cyber threats, making strides towards a safer digital future for all.”
The camp engages the Marine Corps JROTC Cadets nationwide on any number of STEM topics as well as leadership and teambuilding skills development. By combining classroom learning with hands-on experiences, the program provides essential leadership skills, discipline, and teamwork, empowering them to face future challenges with confidence. Activities have included discipline trials, building robotic kits, programming drones, and tracking aircraft with software-defined radios.
“What we offer is incredibly unique. For each technology area we teach, we’re focused on more than the technology itself. For example, with drones, it’s not about teaching students how to fly drones – we teach them to program their drones, within the constraints and limitations of their drones. It is a different philosophy because it teaches students problem-solving and complex decision-making skills,” said Joel Scharlat, CEO of STEAMBridge. “Thanks to our great partners, we’ve been able to provide Cadets with access to technology that they may not otherwise experience and then the chance to use it in a trusted and safe environment.”
All technology from the camps will be donated to schools so that the cadets can take what they learned back into their classroom setting to continue learning and expanding on their knowledge. Camps will conclude on Friday, July, 28, 2023. To learn more, please contact Joel Scharlat at [email protected].
