GWRideConnect, the transportation demand management program operated by the George Washington Regional Commission (GWRC) is proud to announce that our Commuter Assistance Program Strategic Plan has been prepared, presented, and approved by the GWRC Board and will be implemented starting July 1, 2024 . The plan identifies the program’s goals and objectives for FY25 – FY29 and provides a timeline for accountability.

The program’s Mission is to promote, plan, and establish transportation alternatives to the single occupant vehicle, improving transportation system efficiency, enhancing quality of life, and benefiting the environment. This roadmap to achieving measurable goals will benefit commuters who originate their commute in Virginia Planning District 16 encompassing the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, King George, Stafford, and Spotsylvania.

Staff, local commuters, and stakeholders collaborated to compile a comprehensive document that will steer our program for the next five years. Kim Mitchell, the program’s Support and Outreach Coordinator, affirms, “The new plan will facilitate GWRideConnect’s mission of seamlessly matching thousands of commuters to alternative transportation options such as carpool, vanpool, or transit via our free, customized match list!”

Understanding the challenges of finding transportation options, GWRideConnect simplifies the process for commuters. Commuters only need to call or fill out a simple online form and the staff at GWRideConnect will respond within one business day with a free, custom match list – tailored to each individual commute. Registered commuters also receive a welcome packet to help navigate their new commute options and benefits.  If you or someone you know would like to learn more about improving your commute, or to get information on how to qualify to try a vanpool for free, please contact us at (540) 373-7665 or visit gwrideconnect.org.
