2025 Outstanding Educator Awards Celebrate Transformative Teachers and Leaders Across the Region
The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce proudly recognized the region’s most inspiring educators during the 1st Annual Teacher Appreciation Breakfast on June 18th at the Fredericksburg Convention Center. Held to celebrate the power of teaching and learning, the event spotlighted individuals who go above and beyond—shaping not only academic outcomes but lives, communities, and futures.
Across eight award categories, educators from Caroline, Fredericksburg, King George, Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Germanna Community College were honored for their leadership, creativity, compassion, and impact.
Rising Star Award Winners
Recognizing early-career educators already making extraordinary contributions in their classrooms and communities.
- Tala Saleh, Lafayette Elementary School, Fredericksburg City Public Schools
A nurturing, creative force in her first-grade classroom, Tala inspires students and families through compassionate, foundational teaching. - Jeremy Thompson, B.B.A., M.Ed., Caroline Middle School, Caroline County Public Schools
Jeremy blends data-driven math instruction with peer mentorship, making math accessible and engaging for all learners. - Aaryn Boatwright, Edward E. Drew Middle School, Stafford County Public Schools

In just two years, Aiden launched award-winning STEM clubs and taken on key leadership roles, igniting enthusiasm and innovation across campus. - Christine Harper, Spotsylvania County Public Schools

A former 911 dispatcher and mental health advocate, Wendy uses trauma-informed instruction to support and empower first-generation college students. - Teysha Jerels, Park Ridge Elementary School, Stafford County Public Schools
In her first year teaching kindergarten, Teysha transformed the educational experience of a student with communication challenges through resourceful, compassionate advocacy. - Angela Eppenstein, Phoenix Center for Innovative Learning, Stafford County Public Schools
Angela leads with compassion at a school built on second chances, using trauma-informed care and project-based learning to empower every student. Her monthly “Power Chats” foster open dialogue around mental health and resilience. Under her guidance, students have earned scholarships, led health initiatives, and completed over 90 career-connected experiences—proof of her lasting impact.
- Elexis Clemons, Lewis & Clark Elementary School, Caroline County Public Schools Elexis Clemons has made advocacy the heart of her work—ensuring every student feels seen, heard, and supported. From launching a mental health awareness campaign to leading initiatives that meet both academic and emotional needs, she puts student well-being first. Her classroom is a safe, inclusive space where students are empowered to speak up and grow. Through everyday acts of compassion and tireless collaboration with families and staff, Ms. Clemons is transforming school culture and setting a powerful example of student-centered leadership.

A visionary leader, Allen oversees secondary schools, CTE programs, and alternative education. - Beth Burnap, Caroline County Public Schools With a career spanning over a decade, Beth Burnap has dedicated herself to advancing student success—especially in the field of mathematics. From her early days in the classroom to her current leadership role, she has inspired both students and colleagues through her passion, mentorship, and commitment to excellence. As a math specialist, coach, and collaborator, she leads with heart and vision, uplifting others and strengthening instruction across the division. Her legacy is one of impact, integrity, and unwavering dedication to education.
