Window Wonderland, Elf on the Shelf Adventure, Riverfront Park Ice Rink and 4-hour Parking

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – November 14, 2025 – Fredericksburg Main Street is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate the season with a full slate of holiday experiences in downtown Fredericksburg, including the annual Window Wonderland game, a new Elf on the Shelf™–themed adventure, the Riverfront Park Ice Rink, and extended 4-hour holiday parking in the historic district.

“Downtown Fredericksburg is especially magical during the holidays,” said Chris Allen, Executive Director of Fredericksburg Main Street. “From skating along the river to solving riddles in our shop windows, these experiences are designed to make it easier than ever for people to slow down, explore, and support our local businesses.”

Window Wonderland: November 15 – December 31

The popular Window Wonderland 2025 scavenger hunt runs November 15 through December 31, 2025. Participants can pick up an entry form at the FXBG Visitor Center, 601 Caroline Street, then explore downtown to find holiday-themed riddles displayed in participating business windows. Once all riddles are solved, completed forms can be returned to the Visitor Center or mailed in for a chance to win $1,000 in downtown gift cards and dozens of additional prizes provided by the Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority and participating businesses. Official rules and a list of participating businesses are available at fxbg.com/find-things-to-do/window-wonderland.

Riverfront Park Ice Rink: Opening November 28

New this year, downtown will host the Riverfront Park Ice Rink, a festive pop-up skating experience at Riverfront Park, 701 Sophia Street. The rink will be open on select dates November 28 – December 28, 2025, and is presented by Fredericksburg Main Street in partnership with Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation & Events.

The family-friendly rink offers a classic holiday outing along the Rappahannock River. Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under, with skate rental included.

Elf on the Shelf™ Adventure: Begins November 29

Adding to the fun, Fredericksburg Main Street will introduce an Elf on the Shelf™ Adventure in downtown starting Friday, November 29. Families will be invited to follow elf-themed clues through participating shops and restaurants, turning a day of holiday shopping into a playful scavenger hunt. Details on how to participate, pick-up locations for game materials, and prize information will be shared on Main Street Fredericksburg’s website and social media prior to the launch.

4-Hour Holiday Parking in Downtown

To support holiday shopping and dining, 4-hour parking will be offered in designated on-street spaces in the downtown business district from November 15, 2025, through January 11, 2026. During this period, visitors may enjoy extended parking limits in posted 4-hour zones, making it easier to shop, skate, dine, and enjoy multiple activities in a single trip.

All drivers are reminded to observe posted signage and to consult the City’s online Downtown Parking Map for public lot locations and additional parking options.

“Extended parking, special events, and family-friendly activities all work together to support our small businesses,” Allen added. “When people spend more time downtown, they discover new favorite shops, restaurants, and traditions that bring them back throughout the year.”
