Q- Can you share a particularly memorable success story or moment that stands out in your business journey?
A- I recently had the privilege of closing the largest transaction for my company – a construction project in northern VA with an insured amount of $1.23 billion! We closed that one December 2023. Back when we were first joining Community Title, we got in a deal with an insured amount of $145,000,000, smack dab in the middle of our transition to a new company! At the time, this was by far the largest transaction I had ever worked on and I thought it would always be the largest for me. Fast forward two years and now I’ve worked in the billions. Staying open to new challenges and opportunities has been a great motto for me in these recent years.
Q- How do you stay innovative and adapt to changing market trends and consumer preferences?
A- With our role in real estate transactions, it is imperative that we stay informed on new technologies, market trends and the latest fraud schemes. Community Title boosts a sophisticated, veteran run IT Department to keep us and our clients safe. Wire fraud is a huge deal in real estate transactions. We combat this issue with a separate wire room that focuses only on sending and receiving wires as well as protocol for verifying wiring instructions for all persons receiving wires from us.
We are very intentional with our efforts to protect our clients, but also stress the importance of proactive communication. By keeping all parties in the loop, and communicating when things are good and on track instead of just if there is an issue, we build trust and rapport with our clients. Through those relationships we feel we can best serve the needs of our clients, as Loan officers, Realtors, and the Buyers and Sellers directly.
Q- How do you prioritize building relationships with customers and your local community, and what strategies have you found most effective?
A- First and foremost through proactive communication. I have also found a lot of value by participating in Chamber events – ribbon cuttings for new businesses as well as the other events and opportunities the Chamber puts together for us. I gain a lot of personal satisfaction when we can assist small, local businesses with their real estate goals and get to watch them grow in the community. Finding the time to get away from my desk and actually in the community, and then taking the time to follow up with those wonderful people I get to meet, has been the most valuable tool for me thus far.
