Fredericksburg, VA, February 22, 2024 – A groundbreaking event, the Community Connections Expo, is being hosted on March 19th from 9am to 5pm at the Fredericksburg Convention Center. Organized by local health nonprofit, FAHASS (Fredericksburg Area Health and Support Services), this initiative is designed to address the pressing issue of homelessness in our community by increasing accessibility to already existing local services and programs.

This pioneering event is a collaborative effort with the regional Continuum of Care, demonstrating a united front in the quest to make a positive impact on community health and the lives of those struggling regionally. The Community Connections Expo is the first of its kind in our local community, bringing together 40+ vendors dedicated to providing guests with education, resources, and connection to their services.

FAHASS, known for its commitment to minority health across a broad spectrum, is taking a multifaceted approach to address the current challenges being faced by those in our local community, including those experiencing homelessness. Alongside informational resources, the event will feature a wide range of FREE direct services, including haircuts, health screenings, clothing distribution, and access to food.

“We believe in the power of community. This region has such a strong network of service minded organizations and nonprofits and we know the real difference our collective efforts can make in the lives of those experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The Community Connections Expo is an effort to connect people with the existing resources and support they need to improve their lives,” said Joseph Lyttle, Executive Director of FAHASS.

The event not only serves as an opportunity for local residents to access much-needed services but also uniquely addresses the defined ALICE population (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) . Local residents, businesses, and community leaders are encouraged to engage and show their support for this significant initiative.
