FREDERICKSBURG, VA (04/30/26)— Central Rappahannock Regional Library is proud to announce the establishment of The Library Fund for Literacy and Learning, a permanent endowment created in 2025 in partnership with the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region. Created to enhance and expand library programming, this fund supports meaningful classes and events for all ages that help the community thrive and grow. Library programs reflect the evolving needs and interests of the community, with the library’s mission in mind: inspiring lifelong learning.

Beyond education, library programs offer opportunities for people to meet and connect through common interests. The Summer Reading program helps strengthen children’s literacy during the summer months, which is proven to help prevent learning loss. Community Reads and Author Talks use literature to connect a culturally diverse community through a shared connection, encouraging thoughtful discourse about the human experience and instilling greater empathy and compassion.

Programs for middle and high school students help teens build leadership skills and find their place in the community. Teen nights create welcoming spaces at library branches where teens can connect, unwind, and enjoy games and food together. Workforce development training opportunities create pathways for students and adult learners to grow their skills and step into higher-paying careers, fueling both personal success and a stronger community.

“The Library Fund for Literacy and Learning ensures that Central Rappahannock Regional Library’s ongoing commitment to education, financial stability, and community connection will serve this region in perpetuity,” said Rebecca Purdy, the Library’s Executive Director. “The Library offers its deepest gratitude to the Community Foundation for a partnership that safeguards these vital resources for generations to come.”

Gifts to the fund are tax deductible. For more information on the Fund and how to donate, please visit the Library’s website librarypoint.org/support.
