(Fredericksburg, VA) April 13, 2026 – The City of Fredericksburg is pleased to announce the second phase of the City’s new water meter installation project with the implementation of Eye on Water. This is a free online program through Badger Meter that allows residents to track their water usage, set leak alerts, and provides a customer with greater insight to manage their overall water consumption.
The launch of the Eye on Water program follows the successful completion of the City’s Water Meter Project’s Phase I that involved the installation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), which was celebrated with a ribbon cutting at the City Shop in September 2025. This next milestone marks a significant step forward in modernization of the City’s water utility system. These water meter upgrades and Eye on Water program enhance system efficiency, improve billing accuracy, and strengthen customer service by providing more timely and reliable usage data.
Through Eye on Water, residents can:
- Monitor daily water usage to better understand consumption patterns.
- Receive alerts for unusual water usage that may indicate leaks.
- Access usage history and download reports for budgeting or conservation efforts.
Residents can sign up using the account number, customer number, and ZIP code listed on their City utility bill. Please enter the account and customer numbers in this format: account number–customer number. The system is secure, easy to use, and works on smartphones, tablets, and computers.
