Fredericksburg City Schools continues to advance career-connected learning through innovative Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. Eight students enrolled in the Germanna Community College Dual Enrollment Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program earned their CPR certifications through Mary Washington Hospital’s Healthcare Life Support Training Center on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. This important milestone prepares them to begin clinical rotations at Carriage Hill Health & Rehab and Mary Washington Hospital, where they will gain hands-on experience in patient care and professional healthcare settings.
At Walker-Grant Middle School, students in Mr. L. Smart’s Technology Education class demonstrated their craftsmanship and technical skills by designing and producing 130 custom doorstoppers for the school. Through this project, students applied principles of drafting, measurement, and tool safety, showcasing how practical applications of technology and engineering skills can make a meaningful impact in their school community.

While expanding our CTE programs, Jobs for Virginia Graduates (JVG) has partnered with local businesses to provide students with valuable internship opportunities. These partnerships are helping students earn meaningful work experience and internship hours, strengthening their pathways toward future employment and career readiness.
These accomplishments reflect Fredericksburg City Schools’ commitment to providing students with engaging, real-world learning experiences that prepare them for success in both college and career pathways.
